AMATEUR ATHLETICS.

The team to represent Otago in the New Zealand Cross-country Championship, to be held at Miramar on Saturday, arrived yesterday morning by the Mokoia. The rest of tho Auckland'team arrived by the Main Trunk express yesterday. Both teams appear very fit, and a keen contest is expected on .Saturday. J. Bradbury, Wellington provincial cross-country champion, is expected to arrive from Masterton to-night. Arrangements havo been made to present the trophies at a dinner which is being tendered to the visitors at the Burlington Cafe on Saturday evening. For the sealed handicap, which is being run in connection with the championship, trophies have been donated by Mrs. Abel and, Messrs/ H. S. Langdon and R. Marshall.
