THE LEAGUE GAME.
The Wellington representative League Rugby- football team left for Auckland in charge of Mr. S. Brice (manager) yesterday to meet tho northern representatives in a mutch for a valuable challenge shield. A strong team includes Barber (captain), as half-back; Kelly and Bradley, as five-eighths; Cook, tho ex-St. James's three-quarter; and C. nnd '15. King, Ashtou, Irvine, W. Wilson, and Chapman, forwards. The team will play Taranaki at New Plymouth on August 15, and Wanganui on August 17. The big League event of the season will bo the match against New South Wales to- bt played at Newtown Park on August 24. . FIXTURES FOR SATURDAY. The following fixtures havo been drawn for Saturday:—Newtown v. Athletic, at Duppa Street; Petono v. Hutt, at Hutt. The following team will represent the Newtown Club:—G. Spencer, Boyd, Cooper, George, M'Cardell, Taylor, J. Spencer, King, Boon, Barber, Ferris, Cartmer, Collins, Bott. The following will represent the Petono Club v. Hutt at Petone tinder League rules, next Saturday-.—Barber, Manger, Hartley, Glading, Eraser, Cunningham, Levers! Bcswick, Richards, Reesby, Ramsden, Corner, Pollock.
