INVALID PENSIONS. THE GOVERNMENT PROPOSALS. Interviewed yesterday in' reference to the provisions of tho Invalid Pensions Bill, which the Government propose to circulate this session, the Hon. F. M. B. Fisher said that the Bill would probably be on the lines, of the Australian Act. While there would no doubt be certain modifications and restrictions contained in the Act when it -was brought into operation extensions would probably be granted from time to time, in proportion to the capacity of the State to finance the proposal, as had been done in the case of tho Old .ige Pensions Act As drafted, tho provisions of the Bill will apply to every person of 21 years of age and up. wards who is permanently incapacitated for'work, citfior by accident or by reason of being an invalid, who is not in receipt of an old ago or widow's pension. There is no mention of friendly society benefits as disq.ualif.ving invalids from ' receiving pensions wider the proposed Act. ° COMPILER OF THE YEAR BOOK. < Charles Janion, printer and journalist of Molesworth Street, Wellington, has petitioned Parliament for an adequate allowance in recompense for not having received any increase of salary (luriii" the sixteen years he was in the public service, whereby on retirement his superannuation allowance (20s. Od. per week) was not sufficient. In 1892 petitioner was employed by the late Hon. J. Ballanco to compile the New Zealand official Year Book. He states that he was employed at a salary of .£2OO, and promised an increase if the publication proved a success. It did prove a success, but the increase in salary was not given. In September. 1911; Mr. .Tanion's petition was' icferrcd to tho Government for ■' favourable consideration. He has not yet heard anything from the. Government on the matter, and has now again petitioned asking for aii allowance. NON-ATTENDANCE AT CAMP. Mr. Isitt is to ask the Minister for Defence whether it is true that live members of (he Territorial Force, Kaikoura, were lined, with costs, the sum nl' ,tl ss. each for not attending camp at Blenheim; and, if this is the case, will he at once take steps to repair this injustice!' miles south of Kaikoura, and was necessitated a week's travel. CHAIRMEN OF-COMMITTEES. Sfr. J. 11. ITraduey was yesterday elected chairman, of the Labour Hills Committee of the House of ltepresentatives, Sir. W. C. Buchanan chairman of tho Agriculture, Slock, and (Jonimerco Committee, and Mr. E. Newman chairman of the Lands Committee. Other committee chairmen appointed me Sir. A. >S. Slalcolm (Petitions A lo L) and Sir. W. H. D. Bell (Printing and Debates). IN BRIEF. Sir. Slyers will ask tho .Minister for Railways whether it is his intention to make concessions in the mil way passenger fares for children, allowing those under live years of ago to travel free, and thoso between the ages of five and fourteen years to travel at quarter rates. The appointment of nn inspector of totnlisators in the four chief centres to safeguard tho interests of the public is suggested by Sir. Glover in a question to the Government. Sir. Witty is to ask the Government whether they will this session introduce legislation to prevent tho system of entail being established in the 'Doininun. Sir. Glover wants to know whether the. Government intends to appoint an inspector or inspectors of liquor. •
