MARKING GODLEY HEAD.
ROCK TO BE PAINTED WHITE. _ (By Telejraph.—Press Auoelatlon.l Criristchurch, August 8. The need of some distinguishing mark on. Godloy Head, to assist vessels making the port in foggy, weather, was brought under the Lyttelton Harbour Board's attention yesterday by Captain A. J. M'Gibbon, master of the s.s. Kent. The secretary of the board said that Captain Hunter (acting harbour-master) suggested painting tho rock white. The engineer had approved of this suggestion, and thought it tho board's duty to make tho distinguishing mark; it would cost the board .£5 to act on Captain Hunter's suggestion.. The board decided to make tho distinguishing mark, and to thank Captain M'Gibbon for drawing its attention to the matter.
