——t At Monday's meeting of the Wellington Tramway Union, Mr. Albert G. Ward was nominated for tho scat on the Tramway Appeal Board, rendered vacant by the resignation of Mr. D. Dallon. Regarding the new car—No. 90—it was decided that a dcpntalion. wait on the Minister for Public Works before tho car is passed by the Department. It is proposed to bring before tho Minister certain features in connection with the construction of this car. Regarding tho abilities of motormen accented by the Government, strong exception was taken to certain remarks ■ made by Councillor Fletcher on Thursday ' evening last. It was pointed out that an motormen are passed by ,tho councils officers before undergoing examination by tho Government. At the meeting, Council, lor I'letcher had stated that the men who now passed tho Government examination were nut tho men whom tho council' officers had trained in the past. Members passed a resolution of loyalty to and syinpathyovilh the council and officers, and promised their full and hearty , support in carrying on tho business, "should their services '» required, if trouble arises with the clerical staff of tho council, as it may.
