COLLIERY WORKERS' WAGES. By TcleEraph—Press Association—Copyright (R«c. August 3, 0.45 a.m.) Sydney, August 2. Tho award of tho Joint Conciliation Board appointed to inquire into tho Newcastle Colliory troubles, and particularly the miners' demand for tho abolition of the afternoon shift, has been issued. While refusing to abolish tho afternoon shift, tho board recognises that the men's claims are worthy of special consideration. Tho award embodies the revised scale of wages, tho wheelers and surfacemen carrying an increase of from Is. to Is. 6d. per day. Eight shillings a day is fixed as tho minimum rate to any class of colliery labourers.
