Carterton Wedding. At St. Andrew's Church, Carterton, on Wednesday afternoon, Miss Isobul M'Grcgor. second daughter <if .Mr. and Mrs. M. J. M'Gregor, Hikorangi, East Coast, was married to Mr. Edgar L. Nilz, of Stansboro, Kaiwhata. Tho bride, who was given away by her father, looked charming in n dress of white muslin, with an embroidered veil, and wreath of orange blossoms. She carried a beautiful banquet. Misses Barbara and Marjorio M'Gregor, sisters of the bride, attended her as bridesmaids, and were prettily dressed in white muslin, with veils and wreaths of pink roses. Mr. D. Thompson, of Stanshoro, was best, man, and Mr. E. Kite groomsman. The wedding march was played by Miss Feist, Carterton, the service being'fully choral. The bride's present to l.lio bridegroom was a handsome dressing case, and the brido and bridesmaids received pretty peridot pendants. A reception was held -in the Church Hall'after the ceremony, and the bride and bridegroom left later for Wellington.

Health of Women and Children. A meeting of the society for tho Health of Women and Children was held in a committee room of tho Town Hal! ycs'.cr day, Mrs. Algar Williams (president) presiding. •"' There were present: Mesdames A. R. Atkinson, Fitchett, Ponsoaby, Corrigan, Winder, M'Lenn, Leckie, M'Vicar, and Misses Clark and Cable. Tho report of tho acting-Plunket nurse was read, and showed that satisfactory work was being accomplished, twenty-five eases being treated during the month. Miss Helen S3. Barnes, national secretary for Australasia of the I'.W.C.A., will bo welcomed at a social gathering of the local branch to bo held in tho rooms (Fowlds's Buildings) this evening. Miss Barnes is duo to arrive to-day from Christchurch, where sho was tendered a' very enthusiastic reception. She spoke at several meetings and conferences on tho work of the association, and : infused a new spirit into the movement. A programme c-E engagements has been arranged for her in Wellington, including a public meeting to bo held in the association's rooms, at which Mr. J. G. W. Ailkeu will' preside. Miss Barnes will bo tho guest of Mrs. Geo. Shirtcliffo whilst in Wellington. Her Excellency Lady Islington will 'be present at tho gathering this evening in tho Y.W.C.A.

Owing to the limited amount of space availablo in tho Sydney Street Schoolroom invitations for the "at homo" of tho Men's and Women's Political Reform League, to tako place this evening, aro limited only to the-visiting delegates and members of the local Reform League, as well as Government members, who aro also members of tho league.

The engagement is announced of Miss Ida Hollis (youngest daughter of Mr. .1. B. Hollis, Greenineadows, Hawko's Bay) and Mr.- John Hicks M'llroy (formerly of Wellington), youngest eon ot, Mr. S. M. M'llroy, Clive.

Mrs. James Hannah and Miss Corolio Stanley, of Wellington, arc to proceed to Auckland shortly to take part in' tno Auckland Shakespeare Club's production of "Tho-Tempest." This will ho the first occasion on which the society has produced Shakespeare's play, and it is intended that it will 1m quite an artistic venture. Miss Stanley is to play the part of Ariel, and Airs. Hannah will cvclve and supervise the stngo groupings and colour schemes.

Mr. and Mrs. A. Robinson and tho .Misses Robinson (2), and Mr. and Mrs. A. Burnett, of Waugamii, ore to leave for San Franciwo, via Rarotonga, by tho Tahiti on August S. They intend to tour tho world before returning to New Zealand.

Tho second annual ball of the Welling-' ton Garrison non-commissioned officers is to lie held in the Sydney Street Schoolroom on Friday, August 30. The committee comprises S.S. M. Rose, Col.-Ser-geant Rould, Q.M.S. Gibson, S.M. Dement, . Col.-Sergeant Caldwell, Q.M.S.'s Wilson and Gardiner, Serjeants Berry. Gauntlett, Hicksoh, Jophn, M'Quccn, Poole, Taylor, Wickcns, ami Bomb. •Mrs. H. H. Beetham has been visiting Wellington and intends returning to the Wairarapa to-day.

Mrs. Guv Williams has returned to Masterton from a visit to Wellington.

Mr. and Mrs. G. Joachim (Dunedin) oro in town and are staying at 'the Empire Hotel.
