NEW RAILWAY STATION.
NO PROVISION THIS YEAR. Discussing; (ho possibilities of a new railway stulion at LnmUon, fhe Minister for liailway.s (iho Hon. W. H. Herries) staled yesterday, in reply to a qjie.-liou: "So far as the immediate. requirements of live traffic are concerned, lliey can be met in reasonable way by the existing i'acililies at Lambton. "The desirability nl ! improving tho accommodation is, however, recognised, and as opportunity, occurs improvements are being made that can be utilised in connection with the general station arrangements that will lis required when the new structure is put in hand. The actual preliminary work connected with the rearrangement of the station-yard will take a considerable time, and it is intended that the station erected should be modern in typo and fully equipped to meet all requirements. It is inadvisable, therefore, Ui do anything in the matter until the final plans have been completed, and the Department' has obtained the latest information re r spectiiiK (lie layout of a station of the magnitude of the proposed new Lambtun Station. It is not proposed lo make any special provision for tho new Lamblon Station iliis year."
