Messrs. Johnston <uid Co!, local agente ' for the steamer Blenheim received advico on Saturday which stated that the vessel had been shifted towards deep water for a distance of 20ft. Further,efforts to refloat the vessel had to bo postponed on account of there not being another anchor available on the spot. The coastal steamer Iluia left Picton on Saturday evening with the necessary gear, and succeeded in laying an anchor about two cablelengths, out from the' stranded steamer. Now that the tides arc waning, it is thought that those responsible for getting the Blenheim off will'have little difficulty in doing so. Tn all probability the Blenheim will be Feen at Wellington again this week. Members of the crew of tho Fleamo'r ' Huia stated yesterday that the Blenheim had water all round her on Saturday, and wins "alive" on Saturday evening. ,- ULIMAROA LEAVES SYDNEY. MAHBNO'S EXPECTED ARRIVAL. Latest wireless advico received from the Union Company's Maheuo intimated that the vessel would arrive at Auckland frouj Sydney at 1 a.m. to-day. Her mails will arrive in Wellington by the Main Trunk express to-morrow afternoon. OVERDUE BOATS COME IN. Quite a small fleet of overdue coastal steamers arrived at Wellington (luring Saturday night and Sunday morning. Tho first to put in an appearance was the steamer Holmdale. She arrived in port on Saturday evening. The Wciverloy arrived from Ternkohc, via Picton, at 2 p.m. yesterday, ami she was closely followed by tho Huia, Opawa. and Manama, All these vessels had been sheltering in various bays and inlets on the other s.ido of Cook Strait. They had all paid a. visit to Picton to replenish hunkers and stores. When approached yestordhy their respective captains told a reporter that tho weather had been very bad, but iu each case no damage had been sustained. Tho ferry steamer Duchess feft Picton for Wellington shortly after noon on Saturday. Yesterday morning she was observed sheltering at Titirangi over at Tory Channel. Harrlp, tho Launceston delegate, when in Melbourne attending the (animal Congress of the Chambers of Commerce of Australia, took the opportunity of interviewing Mr. Val Johnson, the Victorian manager for the Union Company, in reference to the Lauuceston-Syrtiiey service, says the Sydney "Shipping List." Por some two years past the Chamber of Commerce at Launceston and the Traders' Association hltve made several representations to the Union Company for a more up-to-date and larger vessel than the Wakatipu to be placed in the above trade, but nothing has yet been done. Mr. Johnson assured Mr. Harrap that the irfatter had not been lost sight of by his company, mid an improvement would be made at the earliest opportunity.- Mr. Johnson complained to Mr. Harrap of a statement made ■H the last meeting of tbc Launceston Marine Boo.rd in roferenco to an alleged boycott instituted by the company operating in the Sydney trade. News has been received that the brigantine Roohcl Cohen, 150. tons, built on tho Manning Rivor in 1871, and engaged for ■ many years, past in tie Tasmaian—Smi'th Australian trade, has been purchased by Mr. Joseph Hatch,, who leaves Macqunxrio Island from the Tasmanian Government for .the purpose of'carrying on business in sea elephant and penguin oils. Lately Mr. Hatch decided to mr|'<c Hobart his headquarters instdad of a New Zealand port, and he will place the Rachel Cohen in the trade. Tho vessel will be fitted with oil engines, and her first trip to Macquarrie Island will be for the purpose of loading .500 casks of oil for Hobart, NOTICES TO MARINERS. The light will be 18ft. jabove high water and 22ft. from the end of tho pier. It will show an ni.nbroken red light ovor the harbour and white in shoro over the pier. A light will ialso be exhibited from the end of No. 4 Jetty, Auckland, on the same date, showing red over tho harbour and white in shore; the focal plane of light will be 18ft. above high water.
