TRYING TO SALVE THE BULLION.
ON STAR OP CANADA. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Gisbome, July 25. A heavy swell yesterday resulted in further considerable strain to the Star of Canada, and necessitated suspension of operations in various directions. I'he special hatch which had been placed on No. 2 hold to confine tho water to the lower decks was burst upwards by tho force of the water from below, heavy beams being shattered.. It is expected the balance of the grain cargo will be jettisoned to-day. An attempt has been made to salvage the bullion, valued at .£25,000, at the bottom of No. 3 hold.
