THE CASH SYSTEM.
(By Telsffraph—Press Association.) Auckland, July 15. The fruit and produce auctioneers have decided that they will have nothing to do with the credit system after.the first of next month, and that cash mutt be paid for all goods bought under the hammer. Speaking to a. "Herald" representative, one of the city auctioneers said that the decision had been necessitated by the attitude of many proprietors of smaller fruit shopS, in that they had no regard whatever for the quick paying up of their d->bts. For instance, a. Email shopkeeper having a small supply of bifcuits and confectionery in his shop could go to auction talcs, purchase £5 or £10 worth of fruit on credit, and if he failed to pay within a. reasonable time the auctioneers had practically no security. Two yeare a"o auctioneers had instituted a system of weekly payment*, but this had not been adhered to by buyers, the result being that the ca,rii system has had to be introduced.
