A NEW CHURCH.
TO BE ERECTED IN CAMBRIDGE TERRACE.
"Whilst tho rapid progress made by Courtenay Plaoo during the last two or three years has developed that thoroughfare most remarkably from a comlnerci.il standpoint., it has made land too valuable to bo held for certain purposes, which are perhaps better served in a residential rather than a business thoroughfare, such os Courtenay Place has become. 'Die Courtenay Plaeo Congregational Church, which has occupied a central sito for nearly a quarter of a century, is not likely to remain, there much longer. Tho property has teen placed in the market, and already more than one offer very close to I'ho reserve price has been received. The Church authorities have made full preparations to vacate the present sito within a reasonable timo of a salo l>eiiig ,effected, by having secured a new site at the comer of Lome Street and Cambridge Terrace, occupied for a quarter of a century or more by Mrs. Ritson's stables. As this site is in tho vicinitv of ono of tho most thickly-popu-lated areas of Wellington, it is considered that better servico cau be done by a change. The now church, the plans of which are being prepared by Mr. Fieldiug, architect, will be a larger structure than the present building, and wijl front Cambridge Terrace Tho entrance to the schoolroom at. the back will bo from Lome Street.
