Efforts wero mado with the aid of a screw-driver, a chisel, and a hammer to prise the door open. These amateur attomps at safe-breaking wero watched by an over-incrcnsing crowd for three-quarters of an hour, and ns the minutes pawed many anxious expressions wore heard as to tho safety of the capfive boy. Eventually, after n locksmith had been sought and burglar's tools desired ill vain, tho caretaker of tho theatre arrived on the scene, and with the aid of a cold chisel managed to turn the handlo of the safe door, and pulling it open, released the juvenile prisoner. Tho latter was covered with perspiration, mid ill an evident state of partial collapse. His reappearance was hailed with delijfht by his companions, who boro him off in triumph after what had been a most unenviable experience.
