BIG EFFORT TO SAVE HER. (By Telegraph.-Press Association.! Gisborne, July 22. Salvage operations are proceediug on the Star of Canada, and a final big effort to refloat her will bo made in about a week's time. Tho grain is being jettisoned from No. 3 hold, and 700 tons of silver bullion and lead (valued at over ,£20,000) have yet to bo removed. A special hatch, constructed for No. 2 hold on tho shelter deck, is being fitted. Tho authorities arc sanguine of success.
