EFFECT OF THE EOUGH WEATHER.
'Tho wet weather experienced during the past week disorganised the fruit and produce markets. Shipping has been delayed, 'and supplies' havo not com© to hand. The supply of vegetables, has eased "considerably, and cabbages, instead of being a» glut'in the market, aro now realising payable prices. Choice cauliflowers realised 9s. to'los.; other sorts, ss. to 7s. ';• choice cabbages, 'ss. to Ga. Cd. per , 6»ckj carrots, Is. to is. Gd,; parsnips, 3s. to 45.; whito turnips, 2s. Gd. to 35.; bcet- • root, is. to 55.; swede, turnips, 2s. per cwt.; choice celery, 6s. per dozen, with selling , down to Is. per dozen; pumpkins, 4s. (M. to ss. fid. pov sack; vegetable mar-rows,-55.. to Gs. -
■ This .week's Sydney, boat has been delayed by the. weather, and did not arrive in 'time'toVadmit. of-tho sales of her consignment; to be recorded ill this issue. This week shipments from Fiji and Earotonga. arrived to a very good market. The following prices were realised for fruit:— Mildura. lemons, 12s. 6d. to Us.; Fiji bananas, Bs. to 12s. 6d. per case: Baro-, tonga oranges, 10s. to 13s. 6d. psr case. A small line of coconuts arrived, and sold at 14s. per ■case. Local apple.? are etill arriving in fair quantities, and prime sorts-of; dessert apples nre realising'as ' high' ds Mis. to 9s:',Gd. per; ea'se; ' other grades, sb. to 75.; choice cooking apples icade ss. to 65., and .Epps's seedlings, ■Sβ. Very, few pears are Teaching tho market now, a-'small line of choice winter Coles,.in half-cases, realised.los. to 10s. Gd. -Potatoes are in rather short supply, owing ''to f.lio wet weather experienced in./' the south." Onions show a distinct ' hardening teiuteucy, the quotation, at the present, timo ~ being 10s.
