TARANAKI ROAD RACE.
The cominil/r-e of the Taranaki circular road race have again drawn up an attractive programme for this year's event;. The various cash prizes'total J2125, besides trophies, with a total valuiof ,£l3O, thus making it the most valuable race from this point of view in New Zealand. Tho race is contested for the Britannia tyre challenge cup, valued at 50 guineas. The cup is at present held by James Clarke, of Pnlmersi'on North, whoso -winnings last year totalled ,£7O in cash irrespective of trophies. The course covers exactly 100 miles round Mount Egmont, starting and finishing nt New Plymouth. The event is to be run on Thursday, September 5, and nomination , ! will close on Saturday, August 10. It is onlicipntcd that about 1.10 riders will compete. '_■
