ARBOR DAY.
TREE-PLANTING THIS AFTERNOON,
At the time of writing the prospects for at least dry weather to-day afford eomo degree of certainty that the treo-planting Srogxanime outlined by thp Mayor (Mr. . M'Laren), in co-operation with the City Deserves Committee, schools, and other interested bodies for Wednesday last (Arbor Day), and postponed on account of tho inhospitable weather till to-day, will bo oarried out successfully this afternoon. As previously announced, the principal centre of interest from tho official point of new will bo the operations on Section 48, Town Belt, beliind Wellington Terrace; and just south of Victoria College. The Mayor hopes that a good gathering of citizens, teachers, ami school-children will bo present in the afternoon to take part in the observance. Speeches appropriate to tho occasion will bo delivered by tho Mayor and others. The w.ork that was mapped out by the schools for Wednesday last will in maav cases be carried out in tho forenoon. At Brooklyn tho programme arranged by tho Brooklyn Municipal Electors' Association will bo commenced at 2.15 p.m.
