NORTHERN LEAGUE.
ATHLETIC AND HUTT.MATCH. The League match, Athletic v. Hutt, was played at I'etone on Saturday, and resulted in a win for Athletic by 17 points to 3, after an exciting and interesting game. At times the spectators were treated to some really brilliant football. Lho first spell ended with the scores equal -3 points each-and it was not until just on.the call of half-time that Athletic scored. In the second spell the city team gained the upper hand. Judd, Kepper, and turner played well for tho country team. The backs were badlv placed. Lusty would bo better at full-back, Anderson in the centre, and Harnett on the wing. Amongst the town team, Chapman a J lal ' d " Worki "S f °™ard, but as a whole they were n good pack, and beat then- opponents badly for the ball. Boskiville at-half flayed a brilliant game. Ho ran, kicked, and passed with Vent l»to?™ ■ W. Wilson was an exccTlen he-eighths. Murphy was safe as a "full," but should h 0 m the three-quarter line. Mr. Olarrell was referee.
