THE RANGITIKEI RACING CLUB.
A COItIiECTIOX. The statement published ns coming from Mr. John Rou-a, a member of the liacing Commission, .concerning the claims of the Kanptikei Hoeing Club to a return of its totnlisatur permit, has provoked stron" resentment amongst the supporter of the club. JUr. K. Dalrymple, of j'arewauui, Bulls, writing on the subject, says:— "Jlr. J. .Rowe is reported to have said, Jliingitikei was omitted because it is quite- closo to both Jlnrton and Wanga- '"" by the way, is 20 miles irpin Bulls], without railway connection with other centres and the appointments were also defective' 1, in common with members of the K.H.C., would be very much obliged if Mr. liowe would explain why in their report the commissioners say that the appointments of the If.K.C. were sufficient,- when he now says they are. not, and also why the other reason's lie gives (lid not apply to Napier Park, which is quitfl.'close to--Hastings, where the Ilnwke's Bay J.C. race, and -is also not connected by railway with other centres. Napier Park, givinc less stakes' per day than Jiangi tiled, and racing on six days,, lost one day; . liaugitikei lost ail their days, leaving Hawke's Bav with 32 days racing,-for a population 0f'48,000, and Wellington 30 days, for a population -Vt; a matter of fact, it is generally recognised that the ease, of Jtangitikei is nirexceptional one, and calls for exceptional treatment. This was 'mails quite clear when tho matter was before Parliament.
