COST OF LIVING.

LETTER BY MERCHANT FIRM,

With regard to certain evidence given before tho Cost of Living Commission, Messrs. Ellis and Mail ton, indent and commission agents, writo as follows ;— ' (To tho ~ Sir,—Wo would not encroach upon your space had the Commission still been taking evidence. Wo notice in yesterday morning's issue that Mr. E. Bull (secretary of tho Now Zealand Candle Co., Ltd.) gave evidence again before tho Commission, nnd contradicted our Mr. Manton'a evidence as to tho drop in the price of paraffin wax. Mr. Bull stated that tho drop in the price had been jd. per lb. during tho period named by Mr. Manton. Wo still maintain that Mr. Bull is incorrect, and that tho drop in price, was only id. per lb., as mentioned by Mr. Manton to tho members of the Commission.—Wβ dre ' ; °'' ELLIS AND MANTON.
