The Auckland Chamber of Commerce received from tho Waihi Chamber of Commorce>a letter inquiring whether any proper organisation had been formed in Auckland to assist tho engine-drivers (it Waihi'to maintain the position taken up by theui in connection with tho strike. It.was urged that theso men were bearing the burden of the fight on tho employers' behalf, and that unless financial assistance from outside were, forthcoming, they might abandon their position. A reply has been sent to tho elfect that the Auckland Chamber has. no. desire .to favour either eidoi in,tho' dispute in any way. No organisation had been formed to deal with the" question of relief. The chamber behoved tho attitude of tho employers was that it was not desirable to interfere botween tho parties concerned. . ,
