Southland Wedding. ' At St. Mark's Church, Riversdalo, on June 25, Miss Frances Butler, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Butler, of Waimea House, Eiversdalc, was married to Mr. John. Denniston, tho Hev. W. Uphill officiating. The bride, who was given away by her father, was attired in white satin charmeu6e, with the usual veil, and orange blossoms, and carried a shower bouquet of whito chrysanthemums and maiuon-hair fern. Miss Mary Butler, sister of tho bride, attended as bridesmaid, in a frock of white eolienne, and a large pale blue hat, she also carried a beautiful bouquet of violets and maiden-hair fern. The bridegroom's present to the bride was a handsonio set of bearskin, furs, and to ''the bridesmaid a sapphire ring.

Otago Wedding. On June 26, in St. John's Presbyterian Church, Arrovtown, tho wedding was celebrated of Miss Mary Bell, third daughter of Mr. Dugald Bell, to Mr. Robert G. Heller, eldost son of Mr. and Mis. George Heller. The bride, who was given away by her father, was attired in ivory white liberty silk, trimmed with beaded insertion, and dewdrop cliiffon, and her veil was arranged over a bandeau of orango blossoms. Sho was attended by her sister, Miss F. Bell, as bridesmaid, who wore a costume of white serge, with a largo white velvet hat finished with pale blue plumes. The Bev. B. Welsh performed the ceremony, and Mt. F. Shirley acted as best man.

Society for Protection of Women and Children. A meeting of the Society for the Protection of Women and Children was held on Friday afternoon, Mrs. W. A. Evans, president, presiding. Barnes, general secretary of the National Y.W.C.A., of Australasia, will arrive in Wellington in time' for the Antarctio Bazaar, which is to tako place early in September. l Preparations for this bazaar ore in steady progress, and a number of the women of Wellington are interesting themselves in this enterprise. r No fewer than forty strangers have been welcomed at the hostel of the Y.W.C.A. during tho past month. The Mansard roof, with- its additional rooms, which were completed some weeks ago, is proving the need that was folt for the increased accommodation that it affords.

Tho supper, not the least enjoyable feature of these dances, was daintily-set out on tho stage, the tables being decorated with spring bulbs and violets. Pnrt of tlie hall was fitted up as a drawing-room for tho chaperones. Arts Club Entertainment. The Arts Club is arranging for on open higlit on a vory largo scale to be held in tho Town Hall early in August. As is known, club has in the post dovoted a vefy considerable portion of its tovciluo to tho forwarding of tho cause of Art in Wellington, and now wishes to obtain funds to further extend its sphoro of work. The club is promised tho assistance and support of practically all the kindred art and musical societies of the city in connection with tho , proposed entertainment.

The Free Kindergarten's Fancy Dress Ball. A fancy dress ball for children is being organised in aid of tho Richmond Free Kindergartens, to tako place in the Town Hall on August 24 next. _ Her Excellency Lady Islington is displaying much interest m the scheme, and has promised her patronage and support, which is taking the substantial form of organising a' set of "Lancers," and holding a meeting in Government House. Committees to see to the various arrangements are now being formed,/also sets of which it ie hoped there Will be many. All committees will meet at Government House on Tuesday, July 23, at three o'olock in the af teraoon.
