ENGLAND WINS BY 174 RUNS,
VISITORS BATTING WEAK.

England won the Fourth Test niatoh by 174 runs, South Africa making 159 runs in' the second innings. ■'I'iio weather was dull, the attendance small, and the wicket easy. , Tancrcd (38) and Pegler (12) resumed to the bowling of Barnes and Foster. 'IWcred, after adding" a single, was cleanbowled by Barnes with tho fifth ball of the first over. Eight for 110. Pegler and Carter (the newcomer) made a plucky stand. Hearne replaced Foster at 148, and got Pegler in his second over. Pegler' had batted lifty-iive minutes for 32 runs. Nine for IS9. Carter was bowled by Barne3 in the next over, after having scored 31 by vigorous cricket. Hie total included five i's. He was badly missed when 19. Tho South. Africans' bowling was much better than at either Lords or Manchester, but their batting was weak. Details are as follow:—
