Wedding at St. Mary of the Angels. On July 10, at St.- Mary of the Angels Church, Boulcott Street, Miss Freda Barton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Barton, of Brooklyn, was marired to Mr. Stanislaus Astin, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. A. Astin, of Manchester, England. The Bov. Father J. Herring performed the ceremony, and Mr. Justin Power officiated as best man. Miss Dorris Harcap attended as bridesmaid. A reception was held at the Hotel Windsor after the ivpddinß, a largo number ■ of guests being present. Mr. and Mrs. S. Astin aro spending their honeymoon in the south.
Wedding at Masterton. At St. Matthew's Church, Masterten, on Thursday, July 11, Dr. Archer Hosking, son of Dr. W. H. Hosking, of Masterton, was married to Miss Dorothy Bennett, of Otahuao. The Hev. W. Kaine, of Wellington, assisted by the .Rev. Williams, of Masterton, officiated. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr, C. J. Bennett, of Otahuao, wore a handswnie trained gown of ivory satin, the corsage draped with beautiful old rose point lace. Her veil of fine embroidered, net wos arranged under a narrow bandeau of pearls, and she carried a sheaf bouquet of flowers and fern. The four bridesmaids, tho Misses Nora and Wilmot Bennett, sisters, and Misses Chris. Hosking and Zona Vallanco, were most charmingly frocked in black and white, the two first-named in. white satin, veiled with ninon,- and black satin hats, and tha two last-named'in white muslin over silk, and black hats, massed with sliaded flowers. Mr. Ealph Boetham ■ attended as best man,', and the Messrs. E. Eiddiford, Kishworth, and Dr. M'Eao acted as groomsmen. After the ceremony over two hundred • guests were entertained at the Exchange Hall by the Misses Vallance, aud later in the afternoon Dr.' and Mrs. Archer Hosking left for Wellington, en route for Australia, where the honeymoon is to be spent. Mrs. Coom, sister of the bride, wore a drcsa of pearl grey charmeuse, with touches of palo blue and pink, and a black plumed hat. Mrs. Hosking v'tis in black charmeuse, embroidered to match, with a black toque. Mrs. C. J. Bennett wore a dark blue tailor-made and black hat. Mrs. C. Vallance, a brown cloth, braided costume, with a brown'and orange hat and furs;. Mrs. Erl Williams, a white laeo gown, with a white feather boa, and black and white hat. Miss Vallance, a blue cloth costumeheavily braided, a black hat with white plumes, and black furs; and Miss B. Vallance, a mole coloured braided gown, trimmed with Indian embroidery, .and a toque en suite and eeal stole.
.Maryborough Wedding. ■■■■"■ At St. Peter's Anglican Church, Ward, °' 1 June 19,, was celebrated tho wedding oi Miss- Janet Agnes. Barnes, second d ,a«?hter of Mr. and Mts. A. H. Barnes, Cairn Dhu,' Flaxboiirne, to Mr. Horace Melvin, of Ward, son of Mr. W. Melvin Tuffnoll- Park, London. The bride, who was given away- by her father, was gowned in jvory white crepe de chine, veiled with white silk Fisher net, and trimmed with silk fringe and pearl embroidery. She wore a veil and wreath of orange blossoms, and carried a shower bouquet of white flowers. The chief bridesmaid, Miss Barnes, sister of the bride, was attired in cream silk-striped voile, veiled with Bilk all-over' net and lace insertion; she also carried a shower bouquet. Master Willie Barnes and little Phoebe Buckman attended as train-bearers, and Mr. E. Butt acted as best man.. The Rev. A. W. Stace was the officiating minister; The bridegroom's present to the bride was a pearl and emerald bracelet, and to tho .bridesmaids a gold brooch, and pendant respectively.
Wellington Bowling Club. Tho Wellington Bowling Club held a enchro party on Wednesday night in the club's; pavilion, Wordsworth Street, when a great many members' with their wives and friends were' , 'present. Progressive euchre was played upstairs, and progressive bridge downstairs, and some very ■good games were enjoyed. The prizewinners were: Tor the bridge, Mrs. Andrew Hamilton and Mr. H. Frost; for otichro, Miss Phelps and Mr. John Blundell won the first prizes, and the "booby" fell to Mrs. Churchward and Mr. J. B. Speed. , Supper was handed round about halfpast nine, and during the interval songs were enjoyed from Mrs. Wood and sliss Muriel Bennett, Mr: E. J. Hill, and Mr. H. Mayer.
