ENTERTAINMENTS.
FULLERS' PICTURES. The continued largo patronage at the Skating Rink, in Vivian Stroet, testifies in no small way to the excellent programme which has been screened for the past few days. There will be a complete change of programme this evening. KING'S THEATRE. "A Gipsy's Honour" is tho title of the chief picture of an excellent selection now being screened at the King's Theatre. It is a capital dramatic study, well acted, .and screened to perfection. Other items are:—"The Pathe Gazette," "Fate's Buf'fetings," and "Hydroplanes v. Motor Boats." THE NEW THEATRE. Tho capacity of tho MacMahon and Donnelly's iNew -Theatre, Manners Street, was taxed last evening, when tho chief attraction was "The Midnight .Wedding." Tho plot presents features of more than averago interest, while tho staging, dresses, and interpretation aro conspicuously fine. Tho wedding scenois magnificent, and tho surrounding in accord with the occasion. Tho Vitagraph drama "Mrs. Carter's Necklaco" is a capital episode of city life, in which the principals give a convincing enactment. The Turning Point" is a highly commendable narrativo showing how a trifling incident alters the whole course of a man's life. Tho other pictures aro also of an entertaining order. "Tho Midnight Wedding" will bo shown for the last time to-day and to-night". There will be an entiro chango to-morrow. Next Monday MacMahon and Donnelly will introduce another special feature dramagraph, "Redemption." THE ADELPHI. Big houses are still rule at the Adelphi Theatre, and this week's programme is proving popular. Great interest is being cvinced in tho picture entitled "Children Who Labour," which pourtrays vividly tho littlo child slaves of the factories in' America. Interwoven with tho moral lesson is a very pretty story of a wealthy father and his lost chilli. Other pictures well worthy of mention are: —"Alkali Ike," an excellent cowboy comedy, "Winter in the Upper Engadine," a beautiful series of views of the Swiss Alps, also showing tho winter 'sports indulged in there, and a very interesting insect study, called "The Mosquito," which minutely describes this little pest's life: The management have, owing to the severity of the winter weather, installed heaters in tho theatre, which materially increases the comfort of patrons. "The Adelphi Masked Male Quartet" (whose identity still remains secrct) make their second appearance on Friday next. "BEN HUE." At the Dresden,to-morrow morning at 9 o'clock tho box plans will be opened for the first six representations of tho religious romance, "Ben Ilur, which it to bo presented by J. C. Williamson, I.td. s Dramatic Company at the Opera _ House 011 Wednesday night, next. Anticipating the sanio largo dpmand for seats which has takem place in other centres, the nianogeinent has arranged to have a staff or ushers in attendance from eight o.clocfc to form a queue, f-o that the earliest arrivals can be assured of first choice of seats. A thrilling stage spectacle is the realistic chariot race. Tho audienco arc, it is said, worked up to a tension during its progress, and when it seen that Ben Hur's chariot is overhauling that or his rival, Mcssala, tho excitement inj creases,-and breaks into cheers when Ben Ilur defeats his enemy.
"TUB DANDIES." • To-night and the two following nights ■will bo the last opportunity, of feeing that talented little company,- "Tho Dandies, Which have for tho past six weeks appeared in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall, much to tho .pleasure of large audionces. Ln.st evening l' lo . Concert Chamber was packed, and every turn was recalled many times. To-night, being a "change night," a number of now items will bo presented. Tho management announce that if any patron requires a particular item which has previously bc-an given, ho (or she) must send in tho it quest as early as convenient. Upon receipt of sucli request, the item will l>o repeated if possible. Jf time permits tlvo following will bo included in to-night's programme: "ltufus Pastus," "Tho Scarecrow," and "The Curnto'' turn. "Tho Dandies" (red) complete a highly successful season of seven weeks on Saturday night, and on Monday will take their departure for Auckland. Oji Wednesday next "Tho Dandies" (green) will make, tl.oiv first appearance at tho Concert Chamber.
