HANLEY BY-ELECTION.
THE LIBERAL-LABOUR SPLIT. By Telegraph—Press Association-Copyright (Rec. July 10, 10.25 p.m.) London, July 10. Fifteen Liberal members of the Houso of Commons, fearing tho result of splitting tho progitesivo forces,- have urged tho Master of Elibank (Patronage Secretary to the Treasury) ito recommend tho Liberals at Hanley to stand aside and support the Labour Candidate at tho byelection in tho interests of the Government's important legislative programme.
The Master of Elibaulc Tefused, Baying that he was merely confirming the free decision of tho Liberal organisation to contest a seat, whose representative, the late Mr. Enoch Edwards, from 190G to 1910 had 1 accepted the Liberal Whip.
