Wedding at Opotiki. At St. Stephen's Church, Opotiki, on July 6, the wedding was, celebrated of Miss Torrens, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H._ T. Torrens, of Opotiki, and Mr. Alan W. Chambers, of the Union Bank of Australia, .Dunedin, the Rev. J. W. Chapman officiating. The bride, who was given away by her father, was charmingly gowned in white duchess satin, veiled with silk"lace. She wore the customary veil and orange blossoms, and carried a white prayer book. Misses Violet and Elsie Torrens, sisters of the bride, were attired in bridesmaids frocks of ivory yhite corded velvet, finished , with pipings of saxo blue, and black and white hats, wreathed with blue and white plumes. Mr. Dignan, of Auckland, attended as best man. The bridegroom's present to the bride was a handsome watch and chain, and to the bridesmaids gold bracelets. Mr. and Mrs. Alan Chambers are spending their honeymoon in Australia. The bride's going-away dress was a navy blue tailor-made, with a large black beaver hat, finished with black and white plumes. Whangarei Wedding. On July. 2, at the Church of England, Whangarei, Miss Florence Lucy Gibson, youngest daughter of Mr. C. T. Gibson, was married to Mr. Herbert Forsyth, eldest eon of Mr. James ■ Forsyth, ot Whangarei. The bride, who was given away by her father, was attired in a dress of white liberty silk, and carried a shower bouquet of white flowers. Her long veil was arranged over a coronet of orange blossoms. Miss A. Gibson, who attended her sister as bridesmaid, wore a pretty frock of white broidrie Anglaise, and her bouquet was composed of. violets and foliage. The Rev. J. Calder conducted the, service, and Mr. H. Menzies acted as best man. The wedding breakfast was held in the Masonic Hall, and a large gathering of relatives and guests were present. During the day Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Forsyth left for Auckland on their honeymoon trip, the bride travelling in a costume of royal blue charmeuse cloth, and hat en suite.

Taranaki Wedding. - At the Church of England, Rahotu, on June 26, Miss Mabel Alma Sole, youngest daughter'of Mr. Charles Sole, of Oaonui, was married to Mr. John Stronge, son of Mr. C. S. Stronge, of- Opunake. The Rev. Addenbrooke performed the ceremony, which was fully choral, Mrs. Groom presiding at the organ. The bride, who was given away by her father, was attired in a , trained gown of cream charmeuse, trimmed with silk piece lace. She wore a long embroidered veil, and wreath of orange blossoms, and carried a shower bouquet of white roses and maidenhair fern. The Misses Isabel Grey and Vivian Prosser, who attended as bridesmaids, were frocked in white satin-striped voile, trimmed with silk lace, and tiny frills of satin ribbon, and wore large" white hots. Both carried bouquets of whito flowers and. foliage. Messrs. G. Solo and P. Sole officiated as best man and groomsman. French Circle Evening. An interesting lecture on "Friendship" was delivered by Mrs. M'Phail to members of tho French Club last evening, and a lively discussion followed. The Hon. J. Rigg presided. Captain Evans, Captain Barclay, and Messrs. Duflou, Cook, and Adamson took part. Some musical items were contributed by Messrs. M'lntosh, Nelson, and Duflou. An enjoyable evening closed with a cordial vote of thanks to Mrs. M'Phail.
