THEIR PETITION WITHDRAWN. Tile following letter from tho Amolgm mated Society of Railway Servants htis b&n forwarded to'tho Minister .for RaiW ways (the Hon. A. M. Myers): "I am in- 1 structed by tho Executive Oounoil to ad«' vise you that as a result of their inter- 1 view; with you recently they have decided to abandon the petition which was placid before Parliament in 1911." Tho letto was read in tho House yes-' torday by the Minister. On his motion' that it should be kid on tho table, Sir. Joseph Ward (Awarua) asked for an ox. plan-ation of the causes that had led. to tho withdrawal of tho society from its previous attitude,
