"MISREPRESENTED."
WITNESS'S REQUEST REFUSED,
The following statement was handed fa the press by tho Cost of Living Commission yesterday:— "Mr. George George, director of the Technical College, Auckland,- wrpto to the Cost of Living Commission requesting tho withdrawal of his evidence, on tho ground that it contained many , errors. The commission had afforded Mr. Georgo the opportunity of revising and .correcting hjs evidence, and he has declined to avail himself of this privilege. Tho typowritten report of this witness's evidence was therefore read by. the commission, and the commission unanimously decided that it was on excellent condensed report of the evidence given by Mr. George, and that, considering tho rapid rate, at which tho evidence was given, the reporter was to be especially congratulated on having obtained so fair and accurate a record by means of tho typewriter. As Mr. George hnd mailn public complaint of misreporting, the commission considered it desirable Hint the foregoing facts should bo published in tho newspapers." Tho evidence caunot bo withdrawn.
