MONTHLY MEETING OF COMMITTEE The monthly meeting of the committee of tho Masterton A. and V. Association was held on Saturday afternoon in the association offices, there being present: Messrs. JI. James, H. Evans. The monthly report of tlie caretaker of the grounds was received. A letter was read from the secretary of the Hereford Cattle Breeders' Association, stating that, it had been decided to donate a trophy valued at. £S ss. far competition at the next show for the l>est pen of two three-year-old Hereford bullocks.—lt was decided to thank the society for its donation. The general manager of railways notified tihat tho name of tho Purakau Railway Station would be altered to "Solway" as from July 21. FINANCE COMMITTEE. Tho report of the meeting of the Finance Committee, at which Mr. G. C. Suiiimerell presided, was read. The treasurer submitted a financial statement showing tho expenditure for the month, to have been £192 16s. lid., and the receipts .£392 lis. 9d. The debit balance at date was stated to be i'9Cl ss. lOd. Accounts amounting to £133 2s. 2d. were passed for payment. Tho secretary presented statement of accounts to June 30 for adjustment. The treasurer commented favourably on the advance made by the Association during the year. It was decided to write off as follows:—lmprovements, ,£•101 2s. Bd.; plans and office furniture, d' 33 19s. 3d.;, donations, £8 45.; entry I'ces, £7 Is. The treasurer stated that there was a profit on the year's working of .£IOB4 as. Bd. This amount was reduced to .£o49' 3s. 9d., however, by tho writing-off of .£135 Is. lid. on improvements and plant .account. The balanco of assets over liabilities was shown as .£7384 13s. id., as against £G751 3s. 4d. for the year' 1910-11. It was generally considered that insufficient time was allowed between 'the closing of tho financial year and the annual meeting, and the committee stated that an extension of time was advisable. STATEMENT OF .ACCOUNTS.

The statement of accounts for the past year, for presentation to the annual meeting, was read b.V the secretary. In moving {he adoption of the statement, Mr. G. C. Summerell (treasurer) showed that tho receipts for tho year had been, very satisfactory. The members'' subscriptions had increased by .£292. This was largely due to the energetic canvass made at the instigation of the president. The .stock fair, thanks to the president, Had also been a great success. The show donations had been well up to the average. . There had been a slight, falling-off in receipts from entries and in gate takings. The latter, however, had been compensated for in the increased membership'takings. So far as the show itsslf was concerned,- a loss of about ,£6O was made. Taking tho year as a whole, and including, the stock fair, a profit of about ,£IOOO had been made. Mr. Summcrell urged that every effort should be made to -increase the receipts and reduce the expenditure where •posv'ble. The as-ets of the association were .£7384 over the expenditure.
