PALMERSTON DAY BY DAY.

At a meeting of tho committee of the Manuwatu'Hunt Club last night, Mr. If. R. Lancaster presiding, it was decided to cancel the run at Bunnythorpe. next Saturday, and instead to accede to the rn-qtic.-t of the WaiiKamii Tfimt to have a drag hunt at Wangaehn on that date. Two cups, value ten guineas, each, were donated by Messrs. J. R. M'Donald, of Levin, and W. G. Shannon, of I'eilding, towards the steeplechase meeting, to be held on the Awanuni course on August 7. Various cash amounts up to flvo guineas each were also donated by a number of sportsmen towards the steeplo fund. A meeting of the ball committee at a which a large number of ladies were present, was also held, and a number of details in connection with this function, which is to be held on August 7, were settled.
