FEILDING NEWS.
Tho monthly meeting of tho Orona County Council was attended by Councillor Hugh liurrell (chairman), W. 6. Pearce, J. U. Vincent, J. Morrison, J. J. Murphy, 0. Al'Elroy, and J. M'Donnld. Tho county treasurer presented the following report: —Amount of general rates levied, l'Jll-1912, ,£1315; amount collected, June 30, 1012, .€1821; outstanding, June 30, 1312, M 3; amount of general rates levied, 1912-1913, iUBli3; amount collected, June 30, 1012, .£517; outstanding, Juno 80, 1012, .£4315; bank balance, general account, debit, .£1941; interest account, £2i9; "Siberia" loan, ,£077. Mr. W. A. Turner, butcher, of Waitara, recently bought some Hereford cows, the heaviest of which, dressed, weighed 10001b. Jlr. Turner says this is a record for tho district, being some 2501b. heavier than the average Hereford cow. To-morrow evening Feilding is to be visited by Prince Luster Dikran, 8.H., jr.])., an Albanian aristocrat with de?nocratic leanings. Jlc gives a lecture in the Presbyterian Schoolroom. Very cold weather has prevailed lately in our highlands, and more snow has fallen than can bo remembered for a good many years. Milking will be carried on extensively around Beaconsfield this coming season, and most of tho herds will como into profit early. I The new Anglican Church at Beaconsfield is to he openod next Thursday afternoon by Archdeacon Cassell. The local trainer, J. Cameron, has some fourteen horses in his stables at Feilding. Over thirty horses aro at present being trained on tho Feilding tracks. A Feilding trainer who visited tho Napier Park meeting said he never saw such bad jumping nor a worse class in the majority of the horses engaged in the cross-country events there.
