CAULIFLOWERS AiMD PEARS IN DEMAND. Tlio vegetable, market has been normal this week, except that somo of the root vegetables have been coming in rather freely. During tho week a line of Island oranges cumo to hand in fair order, but met with a very good demand. There is a general shortago of pears, and any lines of tli.is fruit are badly wanted. Apples are. still coming to hand freely, but somo poor sorts of cookers havo a tendency to ease this stock. Tho Sydney shipment this week arrived in goodordor, and met with a ready sale. Mandarins sold at from Bs. lid. to 10s. per gin case, passion fruit Gs. (id. to is. (id., Seville oranges Bs., pineapples 9s. to 10s., and lemons 7s. lid. to Bs. b'd. Choice desser' apples are worth 7s. (id. to Bs. 6d., and other sorts ss. to (is. lid., choico cooking apple 3 ss. to ss. 9d., other sorts Is. to Is. (id. A really good lino of dessert pears in half-cases reached the market during tho week, and realised as much as fls. to 10s. Cooking pears arc in excellent demand at (is. to 7s. Cd. per caso. Treo tomatoes are .worth 4s. lid. to ss. 6d. per half-case.

Cabbages aro still in heavy supply, choice Savoys bringing Is. 9d. to 2s. Cd. per sack, and other varieties Is. Cauliflowers are in short supply, with a good demand. Choice sorts are worth 9s. to 12s. per sack, and other kinds from ss. to tis. Parsnips are in heavy supply at 3s. to •(?. per sack, and the same is the caso with carrots, which bring 2s. to 2s. Cd. Swedes arc quitting at 2s. per cwt..while turnips are Is. to 2s. per case, and beetroot 3s. Cd. to •ts. (id. per sack. A small consignment of French beans sold at Is. 3d. per lb. Lettuces arc plentiful, choice selling at Is. to Is. Cd. per case, and other sorts bringing Gd. per case. Frssli crate eL'gs are worth Is. 7(1. to Is. Bd. per dozen, nnd fresh case eggs Is. Cd. Preserved eggs bring Is. 3d. per dozen.
