RAILWAY OFFICERS' DISPUTE.
EMPHATIC PROTEST. At a meeting of tho Wellington. branoK of tho Railway Officers' Institute tho foW lowing resolutions wero carried;— 1. That this special general meeting of tho Wellington branch of tho N.Z.R.0.1. protests emphatically against tho action of tho Hon. tho Minister for Railways in, not giving effect to tho recommcudatidua of tho Parliamentary Railway Committee, and will heartily support a-ny steps which, our executive may take in tho matter,' and consider that tho action of the l!on t| Minister for Railways (in ignoring th» recommendations of the Parliamentary 1 ! Railway Committee ie tending to undermiuo t!ie loyalty of tho First Division, o! the Service. 2. That, in tho opinion of this meeting, tho time has como that tho Appeal Board bo so constituted that its decisions may l , bo niado final, as tho notion of tho Hon. Minister for R«ilwnys in vetoing . tho, unanimous decisions of tho Appeal Board in threo' recent First Division Appeal cases without oven giving any reasons for l so doing has reduced tho Appeal Board to n farco and has caused grave dissatis*' faction and consternation amongst all grades of tho service.
