Stent, a committee was sot up to inquire into tho. miestion of tlio subdivision of (he Raotihi Parochial District and to report to tho current session of Synod, the committee consisting of Archdeacon Harprr, the Revs. C. F. Askew, V. H. Kitcat. Messrs. .[_. W. Henderson, A. W. Wilkis, J. W. Birch, and tho mover. Tho mover said that the development of settlement and increase of population in tho Raetihi district had created the necessity for a separate district at Oha. kune. Tho present district was quite unmanageable, for one man.

WANGANITI CHURCH ACRE. Tho Rev. 11. Reeve, moved:—"That this Synod directs the Diocesau Board of Trustees to take tho necessary steps to lease the balance of the AVnnganni Church Acre, and to apply tho proceeds therefrom towards erecting a church upon soma lnoro suitable and central site, nnd towards erecting a church, at St. John's and at Gonvillo on a sito already obtained, and for such other purposes us tho Diocesan Synod shall from time to timo direct. .Provided that the balance of llio aero leased shall bo carefully dug rver and any remains of bodies found therein shall be buried at tho public cemetery, AVanganui, or as directed by the Pynod, nnd provided also that ofter provision has been made for tho above purposes, the proceeds shall bo held by the Diocesan Board of Trustees oh trust for the benefit of tho wholo district of Wauganui and tho parochial district of Arainoho-Waito-tarn, nnd tho Wanganui parochial district, as tho , Diocesan Synod may from Hmo to timo direct," Tho motion was secondod. Arcluleacon Harper took strong exception to tho proposal, which, ho said, was not consistent with the dignity of the Wanganui parish. Tho proposal, in fact, was entirely contradictory to a proposal which had'been made less than thrw yoars ago. The discussion was interrupted hy the evening adjournment. On resuming at 7.30 p.m., further discussion , took place, but tho debate was interrupted by other business which hail ken set down for discussion at 8 o'clock. SYNOD REPRESENTATIVES. Tho following were elected to represent the diocese, at tho Genoral Synod:— Clergy—Archdeacon Harper, and the ■Revs. A. 11. Johnson and A. S. Innes-°Laity-Mcssrs. T. P. Martin, J. W. Birch, R. Wilberfoss, and J. \V. Ilender6On' PAROCHIAL DISTRICTS. Tho greater port of tho evening eession, was taken up by a debate, in coininittoo of tho whole, upon a 13111 which was introduced by Avchdeacon Harper to amend Act 1. (Parochial Districts Act.) Broadly stated, the effect of tho Bill, as outlined by tho mover on the sjcond, reading, would be to place parochial districts upon tho saino basis as the parishes, and would give, legislative authority for various administrative functions at present exercised, as measures of expediency, without authoritative sanction. Under the provisions of the Bill, porsons residing outside the boundaries of a parochial district would he eligible for a scat on tho vestry of that parochial district. A like privilege already existed with regard to the parishes. Tho Rev. Joshua Jones etronrly dis-. approved of the proposal, which, he said, would open tho door to inter-pavish rivalry and methods typical of touting tradesmen. Ot'hcr speakers also criticised tho proposal adversely, nnd pointed out that such an arrangement would sharpen any faotional fooling which might exist in a' parish. The Bill was considered clause, by clause, and progress was reported at 10.15, at which time tho debate was adjourned and leave given to sit again. Tho Synod then adjourned till this nfternoon.
