THE WATERSIDE DISCONTENT.
AT 'WELLINGTON,
Regarding tho statement that discontent exists in the ranks of tha Wellington Waterside Workers, a reporter saw Mr. G. G. Farland, secretary of the union, yesterday. ,In answer to inquiries, Mr. Forkuid said: "As lar as I know, there is no truth in the statement that an attempt will shortly be matte by. a tcction of the members to secede from the Federation of Labour and join tho United Labour party. There may be some discontent amongst members, but this is winter, and work on tho wharves is slack at this limo of the year. Naturally, the men have n.ore opportunity of getting together and talking, and there is some discontent evident amongst them owing to this cauj?. You will always get this state of affairs at a slack period at this time of tho year." From inquiries made amongst the stevedores it was ascertained that a certain section is not in favour of tho present regime, and would, like to Eee a certain change.
