FOOT-AND.MOUTH DISEASE.
THE.ENGLISH OUTBREAK. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, July 2. The President of the Board of Agriculture, Mr. Runciman, speaking in, the House of Commons, said that tho main centres of the outbreak of foot and mouth disease were Cumberland, South Lancashire,, and South Northumberland. The Government has authorised tho landing of Irish cattle on the same conditions as aro imposed on foreign cattle at Bristol, Birkenhead, and Glasgow. BACILLUS DISCOVERED. (Rec. July 3, 10.45 p.m.) Berlin, July 3. Professor Cnigel, of Rostock University, has announced that he has located tho bacillus causing foot aud mouth disease, and has also prepared a serum waking cattlo immune. This serum is not curative, and can only bo administered to healthy animals.
ARGENTINE PORTS SHUT. (Rcc. July 3, 10.45 p.m.) Buenos Ayres, July 3. Tho importation of British cattle has been prohibited by the Argentine Government.
