CIVIC WEECOME. Br Teleeraph—Press Association—Copyright Sydney, July 3. Mr. James Bryce, British Ambassador at Washington, was given a civic welcome ot the Town Hall to-day. This ovening the Governor-General of tho Commonwealth (Lord Dennian) gives a dinner in his honour. To-morrow ho- will bo welcomed at Sydney University, and subsequently tho members of tho Government will welconio him at Parliament House. Mr. Bryco will be Lord Dcnman's guest until Friday, and afterwards he will bo the guest of Lord Chelmsford, Governor of New South AVnles. (Rec. July 3, 10 p.m.) Sydney, July 3. There was «. representative gathering at Mr. Bryco's reception at the Town Hall. Referring to the groat kindnoss shown him in America, Mr. Bryce said ho took it as an expression of the feeling, greater than ever before, which united the people of the United States to tho people of Britain, and the people of Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. The reception of tho American Fleet in Sydney had left a permanent impression on tho minds of the people of the United States. The cordial sentiments which Australians cherished towards tho people of the United States were reciprocated.
