MASTERTON NOTES.
(From Our Special Correspondent.) Masterton, July 2. The president of the Jlasterton Chamber of Commerce telegraphed to tho Minister for .Railways yesterday thanking him for the improved railway service, which is mut'h appreciated by the travelling publie and residents of Jlasterton and district. During Ihe quarter ending .Tune 80 six breaches of the Licensing Act were dealt with in tho Magistrate's Court at Jlasterton. Stock are reported to be wintering vorv well in the Wairnrapa, notwithstanding the cnld snaps which have In-en experienced. There is an abundance of gra-s. Member? of St. .Matthew's Club bado farewell last night to .Mr. Noel Boyd, who is leaving shortly fcr "Wellington, and presented him with a handsome travelling Tug. A number of sheep and valuable dogs have been destroyed lately by motor-cars. It is probable tliat litigation will result from one incident in which a number of sheep were killed.
