GOLD AND SILVER RETURNS.
A BIG FALL. The result of tho cessation of work at the YTaihi pold mines makes a sorry showing in the rotum of gold exported from the Dominion during the month of June. In that month sold to the value of ,£50,191 was exported from tho lvholo of Mew Zealand, as agftinst .£96,537 worth during June, fill]—a decrease of «£le,34G. The export of silver for the same period lias also been disastrously affected. Tho value of silver exported during laft month was valued at .£176, whilst during .Tune of last year tho valuo of this metal sent out of tho Dominion amounted to <£8913. The return of gold from the Auckland district (which includes "tt'aihi), fell away from 17.553 ounces (valued at «£7O,BG'J) in June, 1!)11, to 1581 ounces (valued ■ at .£5171) for last month, The return for the six mor-ths of 1012 and tho corresponding period of 1911 reads as follows:— ! 1912.
