JUNIOR CADETS.
■ REPORT FOB LAST YEAR. The report on the Junior Cadets of New Zealand for tho year ended March .11, 1012, .states that there aro .WI primary schools, in which the Junior Cadet Deportment has active interests. During the past year 111 new appointments of Junior Cadet officers were mado and 12 resignations worn accepted. At nino schools now corps were formed, and three schools, on last year's strength, wero handed over to tho Defenco Department for training. The present estimated strength of junior Cadets is as under:— 1910-11 1009-10 Inc. Officers (including Scoutmasters at small schools where Scout, work is done instead of military drill) 1315 1233 S2 Junior Cadets (including Scout Cadets) 29,308 20,057 211 Grand total, officers and cadets, 1910-11 30,023 .10,300 ,123 It is estimated that the Junior Cadet Department is furnished with equipment (uniforms ranges, trophies, ammunition, clc.) valued at .C 27.000. During the past, year, 10,000 sets of Junior Cadet uniforms have been issued and it is estimaled_ that 20,000 Junior Cadets aro now in uniform ""throughout New Zealand. Equipment valued at .£025 is on order from England. Tho amount voted lo the Department for tho vear was .tOIOl) and tho amount expended, .CCSKI.
