RUMOURED DEMANDS. Tlicro aro rumours current. Hint trouble is brewing betwoo'i the Gas Company's employees and tho management. The union to which tho men belong recently cancelled registration under tho Arbitration .Act, and affiliated wit'h tho Federation of Labour. It is understood that ;i meeting of the men was hold on Sunday, and that tit tho meeting a series of demands were- drawn up and approved. Increases to tho amount of about 10s. per week per man are being asked for. No intimation that anything of the sort is going on has been officially communicated to tho management yet, but it is understood Ihnt tbo document retting out tl'.o union's claims is to reach tho managing- director on Wednesday morning. The closest secrecy ij being observed about the whole business. Whether (hero is to be a threat of immediate strike in the event of a refusal of tho men's demands is not ascertainablc.
