IMPERIAL DEFENCE.
A VOICE FOR THE DOMINIONS NEEDED. ,By Telegraph-Press Association-Oopyrisht (Kec. Juno 25, 10.35 p.m.) London, Juno 25. "The Times," in an article entitled ."The Admiralty, and the Empire," says the North Sea .is now the centre of naval strategy as victory thero would leave Britain an easy mastery in other European seas. Nevertheless there must bo no loosening of the hold on the Mediterranean, which closely involves tho British food supply. Britain cannot share her position there even with tho friondliest Power. "Tho Times" hopes that Mr. Churchill's Imperial squadron scheme will lie worked ont immediately in preference to any contribution from the Dominions to the immediate battle-power of the fleet in English waters. The security of tho Enipiro depends on solving the problem : of union for defence. Tho Dominions cannot long bo expected to accept a system in which they havo no voice. Britain wants a partnership with them far more than merely their support. AUSTRALIAN NAVAL COLLEGE. HEW ZEALAND DECLINES AN INVITATION. (Rec. June 26, 0.30''a.m.) • Melbourne, Juno 25. The New Zealand Government has, refused the Federal Government's invitation to send boys to the Commonwealth Naval College on tho ground that the establishment of a New Zealand Navy is not contemplated, anil that therefore there is no present necessity for the training of naval officers. Should such an eventuality occur tho Dominion would be glad to co-operate with the Commonwealth. ,
