WELSH CHURCH BILL.
A "CAVE" AMONG LIBEEAL CHURCHMEN.
By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Rec. Juno 21, 10.10 p.m.) London, June 21. A deputation of Liberal Churchmen and Nonconformists waited on Mr. Asrjnith ami urged that more generous treatment bo given to tho Welsh Church in the Disestablishment Bill. Mr. Asquith, replying, said he agreed that tho Irish Church, when it was disestablished, was richer than the Welsh Church and promised to give tho matter careful consideration.
Tho "Daily News" says tho question whether the Disestablishment Bill will pass is agitating the lobbies. Thero is a "cave" among tho Liberal Churchmen and the English Nonconformists are also lukewarm.
'A' "cave" is a term applied to a combination of a number of members to defeat a measure introduced by a party to which they belong.. The appellation took its origin from tho Scriptural parallel drawn by Mr. Bright when lie compared Lord Grosvenor and the Liberal opponents of Lord Russell's Reform Bill to the mull who gathered themselves to David in tho cavo of Adullain.
