APPEAL TO TRADES UNIONISTS.
By Telegraph-Press Association-Copyright (Rec. June 20, 11.15 p.m.) London, June 20. The transport strikers at Southampton have resumed unconditionally. Many of tho permanent hands havo found themselves replaced during tho strike, and are unable to secure immediato employment. There are 131 vessels being worked in London, and tho largo traffic is increasing.
Lord Devonport, chairman of tho Tort Authority, on behalf of tho employers, has declined to meet the Industrial Council to discuss terms of settlement, but is willing to meet the Cabinet.
The Port of London Authority requires that the strikers shall return to work previous to the resumption of negotiations, and also that tho permanent stuff shall join casual labour class, thereby forfeiting the right to sick pay, holidays, and pensions.
The Strike Committee has decided to abstain from further negotiations for a settlement in tho meanwhile, and will appeal to trade unionists for'monetary assistance.
The . Parliamentary Committee of tho Trade Union Congress has endorsed tho appeal for support, believing that. tho employers are seeking to injure the trade unions. POLICE QUESTION AGAIN. ALLEGED MOLESTING OF MEN. (Rec. June 20, 11.45 p.m.) London, June 20. The transport strike, was discussed in the House of Commons yesterday. Mr. Rowland Hunt (Unionist) alleged that thousands of men were iD hiding at (ho docks afraid to go home because gangs of men were waiting to assault them. Mr. M'Kenna,. Home Secretary, in replying, denied this, and said the police were doing their best to protect the workers and their wives. Mr. Will Crooks (Labour; denied that molestation by tho strikers was taking place.
