MR. T. SEDDON, M.P.
(Bj Telegraph.—Press Association.) Hokitika, ,Tune IS. Mr. T. Seddon, M.l', for AVestland, was entertained at a social gathering to-night by his supporters. Despite the unfavourable weather there was a good attendance. The Mayor of Hokitika presided and Mrs. T). J. Seddon was among those preent. A large number of apologies for absence were received, also eulogistic messages from tho Prime Minister, members of the Cabinet, and Sir .T. G. Word. During the evening Mr. Seddon was presented with a handsomely-framed illuminated address from his supporters.
In acknowledging the gift, and kindly sentiments expressed by various speakers he said it was his opinion that the Hon. .1. A. Millar, Mr. T. K. Sidoy, Mr. K. H. Clarke and others mentioned by opnonenls of the Government as likely to voto against the Mackenzie Administration would not forsake the present Liberal side. Mr. Seddon referred to the need for reciprocity between Australia and New Zealand in regard to trade relations, and ha impressed his belief that such would be. brought about in the near future. During the evening the opportunity was taken to present Mr. D. J. Evans (secretary of Mr. Seddon's Committee) with a purse of sovereigns, for his efforts on the member's behalf.
The speeches during the evening were interspersed with a concert programmo and afterwards dancing and other social sanies were indulged in, a most enjoyable function being brought to a close at a lalo hour.
