TRANSPORT STRIKE.
TROUBLE NOT SPREADING,

The emergency committee appointed by the transport strikers includes Mr. Gosling, president of the Transport Workers' Federation, and Mr Ben Tillett, eecretary of the Dockers' Union. Tho committee is keeping in touch with the Government, with a view to effecting any possible arrangements for a settlement.
The Port ol London Authority has decided to vary the lightermen's regulations, so as to enable licenses to be granted to any qualified applicant. Tho lightermen are alarmed at this attack on their ancient privileges.
The strike is not spreading, and there is a noticeable- increase in tho work at tho London Docks. Several. peaceful picketers have been sentenced to imprisonment with hard la* hour. The steamer Ajana is loading at Avonmouth for Australia with imported labour. Tho employers have given notice of a claim for losses on the union funds deposited under the 1900 agreement.
