WIRELESS TELEGRAPHY.
1 o .. INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE SITS. By Te'.ejraph—Press Association—Copyricht (Rec. June 13, 10.10 p.m.) London, June 13. At the International Radio Telegraphic Conference, now sitting here, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and Ul9 Dominions accepted the principle that fehips fitted with wireless telegraphy must accept messages from each other whatever wireless system may be used by them. The general application of this principle is now approved by nil countries. From the evidence given at the inquiries into tho loss of the Titanic, and from the statements of -I he operators on different 1 1 ships, it appeared that tho rule at sea is that only ships fitted with the Marconi .system communicate with one another. The operators on those liners are supplied by tho Marconi Company, and are under their control. Their instructions are that they aro not to communicate with vessels fitted with any other system. According to the statements of tho officers of one steamer which stood by, inquiring bv wireless whether tho C'arpathia needed aiiv further assistance after picking up tho Tilanic's survivors and offering stores, the only replv obtainable from that vessel's operato'rs was "Wait," and later, after some hours, "Shut up."
