A NEW CHURCH PAPER.

We have received a' copy of the first issue "of''«, new Anglican weekly paper called "The Church-Standard." It will contain rW latest Church news of Australia and New Zealand, also a regular- English letter from a special correspondent in London. The first issue has many interesting features, including an article by the' Archbishop of Melbourne on "Church of Eugknd Schools," notes from the various dioceses, and a very interesting report of a discussion by the Victorian Provincial Synod on tho connection between the Australian Church and the Mother Church of England. Editorial notes refer, among Other interesting topics, to tho recent, course of sermons' by tho Bishop of Auckland on prayers for tho dead. An interesting and careful survey, -week by week, of the affairs of the Anglican Church in Australia and New Zealand.' such as that given in the "Church Standard," should be almost indispensable to all members of the Church who desire to keep abreast of the times in these matters. The following, among others, have expressed their general approval of the objects of the paper:—The Archbishop of Brisbane, the Bishops of Adelaide, Auckland, Btrthuisti Bnubury, Carpentaria, Newcastle, New Guinea, North Queensland,' North West Australia, Perth, Riverina, and Rbckhampton, Bishop Wilson (late of Melanesia), the Hon. Sir Arthur Morgan, M.L.C., (President, Legislative Council of Queensland), Mr. Justice Simpson (Chief Judge in Equity, N.S.W.), Mr. Justice Chubb (Queensland), Judge Backhouso (N.S.W.), the Hon. J. S. T. M'Gowen, M.L.A. (Premier of N.S.W.), the Hon. F. Flowers, M.L.C. (Chief Secretary, N.S.W.), the Hon. Arthur Griffiths, M.L.A. (Minister for Works, N.S.W.). An advertisement on Page 1 of this issue announces that copies of tho paper may bo obtained from Messrs. S. and W. Macltay, Lambton Quay; Wellington. The "Church Standard" is published in Sydney. • . ■
