CHRISTCHURCH PRESBYTERY
MARRIAGE LAWS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Christchurch, June 11. At'the Christchurch Presbytery it was reported that as the committee had so far not been able to meet, the petition for presentation to Parliament in connection ivith tho Nβ Tetnere Decreo was not ready. The Rev. R. Wood (convener of the committee) said that he had been making inquiries, and had received an interesting letter from Canada dealing with tho marriage laws there. This would be discussed when the report came up. It referred, he said, to a case in the Supreme Court, where a marriage solemnised by an accredited minister had been dissolved. A deputation from the Laymen's Missionary Movement waited on the Presbytery, nnd asked members to consider tho advisability of inviting the General Assembly to meet in Christchurch in 1913. The delegates said that they were of the' opinion ' that th'is would be a good thing for the Presbyterian cause in CTiristchurch and Canterbury. The act-ing-moderator thanked the deputation, and said tho; Presbytery would consider their suggestion.
